September 2nd-5th: 76th Annual Apple Festival

Hendersonville is the official home of the North Carolina Apple Festival, a four-day celebration to recognize the importance of the apple industry to Henderson County and North Carolina.


The Apple Festival is always held during the Labor Day weekend (Friday through Monday), which falls right in the peak of apple harvest season. Festival-goers can choose from a variety of events, with the most popular event being a street fair on Main Street.

Some of the other festivities happening during the Apple Festival include apple breakfasts, Gem & Mineral Spectacular, children’s activities, the Western North Carolina Air Museum Open House, a parade, running and biking events, and much more at various locations. September 9th-18th: NC Mountain State Fair


 The annual Mountain State Fair, which takes place at the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher, celebrates the heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains, including agriculture, music, crafts, art, food, entertainment, display of livestock, and competitions.

The focal point of the Fair is the Carnival Midway, featuring over 40 rides and numerous games for all ages. But the backbone of the Fair are the many competitions that showcase Western North Carolina’s best in livestock, creative arts, heritage, farm products, food and so much more. Enjoy demonstrations including everything from molasses making, blacksmithing, pottery and needlework to basket weaving.

September 24th-25th : Art on Main


10am-5pm both days


Autumn in the Western North Carolina mountains finds thousands of visitors traveling to the region to enjoy the amazing fall foliage.  

We celebrate fine art and fine craft on the last weekend of September each year by gathering distinctive local artists, as well as highly talented artists from the southeast region of the U.S. to meet the public and sell their work on Historic Main St.

More than 100 incredible artists will sell fine art paintings, in addition to works in clay, metal, wood, fiber, photography, jewelry, etc. Join us September 24 & 25 in Downtown Hendersonville for this great event that is organized by the Arts Council of Henderson County.
